Short Note: Incredible entry today. Hope you enjoy!
Cloudy and somewhat cool day. Somewhat confusing morning. Precarious readings. Valeria read the script and seems impressed. Anyway it was five days of writing. I checked my papers to see if there is one of my novels that I want to finish. Reading Witches, Werewolves and Fairies: Shapeshifters and Astral Doubles in the Middle Ages by Lecouteux. He cites a legend in which the Christian and pagan element are inextricably linked: “the saga of the bishops”, in which the subject of doubles and giant women are linked. In any case it seems that the “double” that obsessed Nerval is intimately linked to Swedish culture. Dumas claims that in Italy he met a Swede who had a double that followed him everywhere.
I went out to buy food for lunch (liver, herring, rillettes, cheese). I bought a book by Supervielle that I didn’t know: Unknown Friends (fourth edition, 1934) and a bilingual edition of poems by Poe, translation by Léon Lemonnier. Notes to the translation by Mallarmé. His insistence in using the adjective preceding the noun.
I spoke with John. We’ll meet in Paris next week. On Sunday I’ll see Gilbert. Vacations are coming to an end. Today I saw two photographs of mine in which I didn’t recognize myself.
